About the Owooo™ Dog Leash

How to train your dog with an Owooo No Pull Dog Leash

Once the Owooo No Pull Leash is connected to your dog it will most likely stop it from pulling immediately. However, if required, introduce the leash slowly. For example, start inside your home, then your back yard, then out in the world.

The Owooo Philosophy

Dogs pull on leads, some more than others.

And when this happens, who is leading who?

But this isn’t a rhetorical question. We really think it’s strange that people hook up halti, chokers, and harnesses to their dogs, when in fact they really want control of their hind quarters!

And the Owooo No Pull Dog Leash is exactly that. A strategic move to the rear of your dog. When your dog starts pulling, the leash will tighten and discourage it from doing so.

In time, often immediately, your dog learns when the Owooo No Pull Dog Leash is attached, pulling hard isn't fun anymore. And most importantly, it also knows that you don’t want it to pull.

Of course, it should be said, you can also use the Owooo Dog No Pull leash as a standard leash and benefit from the fact it's lightweight, super strong, fast drying, and doesn't rust if your dog likes water.

A final note: Dog Harnesses can can actually train your dog to pull more, because pulling becomes a fun game. Also, a choker chain can be cruel and if applied with too much force can cause permanent damage to your dog’s throat. Finally, halti and neck-focused slip leads require so much time and are hard to get right that often people simply give up.

How the Owooo No Pull Dog Leash came to be

Owooo co-founders, Nina and Ollie, had two German Short Hair Pointers who pulled like mad, and nothing worked to get them under control on-leash.

And this was problematic because where they lived — in the far north of New Zealand, where there are literally more dogs than people! — there were native, rare kiwi birds everywhere on the sides of the roads. So, if their dogs pulled at one and attacked it (German Short Hair Pointers are bird hunting dogs after all!) they would have been killing a rare species of native bird iconic in New Zealand and Nina and Ollie would’ve been up for huge fines or potential imprisonment.

Needles to say, they really needed a solution for their dogs!

So, inspired by kiwi-aversion dog trainers in the rugged bush-clad hills of the far north of New Zealand (people who like to think backwards!) the Owooo No Pull Dog Leash came to be.
